About Paul Fearn
Paul Fearn is an aviation photographer and the founder of Piemags, a stock and archive library. He is based in Bridgend, South Wales.
Aviation came first
Aviation was part of the household before it was a career. Paul Fearn’s father served in the Royal Air Force, and Paul joined the Air Training Corps at twelve before going on to serve in the RAF himself. Aircraft were simply part of the world he grew up in.
A camera for his eighteenth birthday in 1986 turned that connection into a craft. After leaving the RAF to pursue photography full time, he began photographing aircraft on military bases, in museums and in operational environments around the world, with early commissions for museums, heritage organisations, publishers and government departments.
The photography
He has photographed aviation full time since 2000. The work covers front-line military jets, commercial airliners, business aviation, classic warbirds and air-to-air photography, and the standard he sets himself is the same in all of it: technically sharp, well composed, and worth licensing.
A selection of twenty photographs is on the portfolio page, and several hundred more are available to license through Piemags Aviation.
Stock, archive and Piemags
Paul has worked in stock photography since 2008 and founded Piemags in 2019. The library now manages more than 30 million images across virtually every subject, alongside stills and video including extensive military footage, and it holds a deep historical archive as well as contemporary material. The collection reaches buyers through the world’s leading photo and video platforms and through direct licensing.
Images licensed this way have been credited in reference works, biographies and school textbooks. The verified list is on the published work page.
